MVP Joining Lucha Underground?
Former WWE United States Champion makes announcement at WaleMania 2.
Thursday night at the WaleMania 2 concert/podcast event in Dallas, special guest MVP announced that he would be joining Lucha Underground.
While he did not offer details as to when he would debut, odds are that he'll be playing a role in Season 3 of the show, which is currently filming and scheduled to run into 2017.
MVP debuted in WWE in 2006 and quickly forged a reputation as one of the company's best workers. He captured the United States Championship the following year and held it for more than 11 months, but his push never got any stronger after losing the belt. In 2008, he was voted "Most Underrated" in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards, and in 2010, he was granted his release from the company.
MVP soon arrived in New Japan, fulfilling a lifelong dream by competing for the company. He was the promotion's inaugural Intercontinental Champion, winning the title in a 2011 tournament. MVP left New Japan in 2013, citing a desire to work closer to home, and the following year, he joined TNA wrestling.
While with the company, MVPcompeted in matches and served as an authority figure, eventually departing last July. We will keep you updated on his expected switch to Lucha Underground.
