The news so many wrestling fans have long been waiting for appears to have finally arrived today, as Pro Wrestling Sheet are reporting that Neville has been released from his WWE contract.

The 32-year-old former Cruiserweight Champion had been in career limbo since walking out on the company in October 2017, following a number of reported "creative disputes" with management. During that time he hasn't been seen or even mentioned on WWE programming.

News on his exact status has been hard to come by over the past 10 months, with some outlets suggesting he was simply waiting for his contract to expire, and others implying that WWE had frozen it until a resolution could be reached.

However Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned that Neville is "not currently tied down to a WWE deal as of this moment".

The precise details of this remain unclear, and if Neville has indeed been released there is still the issue of when this was, and how far into a presumed 90 day no-compete clause he would be.

The news brings to an end nearly a full calendar year of speculation on the story, with both Neville and WWE refusing to break silence on the situation. Teasingly, with All In merely a week away, both Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks have tweeted about Neville in the last few days, adding to the speculation he could be set to make a comeback on the Chicago show.
