New Japan star El Phantasmo is on his way to IMPACT Wrestling, as the forbidden door creeps open further.

The announcement came on last night's AXS TV episode, with a hype package playing some of Phantasmo's work on New Japan's USA show STRONG, before dropping the 'next week' tease. He'll debut on the 6 May episode.

Although Phantasmo's role in IMPACT going forward hasn't yet been announced, it'll be intriguing to see if he goes after Josh Alexander's X Division Championship. Phantasmo himself is the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight and Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion (with Suzuki-gun partner Yoshinobu Kanemaru), having captured both of those titles at the end of February.

He joins the FinJuice pairing of David Finlay and Juice Robinson as New Japan stars to travel to IMPACT via the opening of the forbidden door. FinJuice are, of course, now the IMPACT World Tag Team Champions.

Travel restrictions as a result of the ongoing global b*stard have made appearances like this more tricky to execute. Considering Phantasmo last wrestled on the 28 February Castle Attack show, however, perhaps this has been in the works for a while.
