News On Why Sheamus Was Chosen As Money In The Bank Winner

It was the plan last year, so WWE went with it this year.

Sheamus won the Money in the Bank briefcase this year in part because it was the plan last year and apparently they liked the plan enough that they stuck with the decision this year, according to the Wrestling Observer. It was mentioned by former WWE creative team member Kevin Eck that it was pitched that Sheamus would win Money in the Bank last year as a babyface and then turn heel by cashing in the briefcase on the babyface champion in order to win the WWE Title. The reason that didn't happen is because John Cena was booked to win instead. Then WWE chose to have Seth Rollins win the briefcase, so Sheamus was left to continue as a babyface. He didn't turn heel until after WrestleMania this year. While it is no guarantee, it's likely that Sheamus will win the WWE Title in the next year from whatever face beats Rollins for the title or he could cash in on Rollins in the near future. It's a good idea to get a new name in the title mix although Sheamus isn't necessarily that new. His last World Title win was 2012 and the last WWE Title win was 2010 for a total of three WWE World Titles. Sheamus is currently feuding with Randy Orton, a feud the Irish man could win because if he's going to be treated as a top guy again he really has to start earning it by winning meaningful feuds. The choice was made for Sheamus to win Money in the Bank because that was the plan last year and now it's up to him to prove that they made the right choice by sticking with him this year.
