Nick Khan Explains Why WWE Still Sells Events On Traditional PPV
WWE's Chief Revenue Officer explains why PPVs aren't exclusive to the WWE Network.
Many a wresting fan has pondered why anybody would purchase a WWE PPV for $50 when they could just sign up to the WWE Network for $9.99 per month. And now, WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer has been discussing why exactly the company still offers the ability to buy PPVs in a more traditional way.
During an appearance on Peter Kafka's Recode Media podcast, Khan, when asked where people can watch this weekend's SummerSlam event, explained why PPVs are not solely exclusive to WWE Network and Peacock.
"In the United States, you can watch it on Peacock. It is still available on traditional PPV. The reason we made that decision with Peacock was because, for certain rural areas where we have a fan base that may not have high-speed internet, we wanted to make sure it was still available to them through the traditional means of ordering through cable, satellite, etc."
As a price comparison, UK fans can order WWE SummerSlam 2021 via BT Sports Box Office for £29.99 or you can sign up for the WWE Network for £9.99 and watch on your computer, mobile device, numerous video game consoles, or even through your TV with certain smart TVs.
For those wondering why WWE still offers the traditional PPV purchase option, though, Nick Khan has at least shone a spotlight on why that is still available.
