NJPW Severs Ties With Marty Scurll Following Appearance At Strong Tapings
New details on Marty Scurll, who was spotted at an NJPW Strong taping recently.
New Japan Pro Wrestling will not be working with Marty Scurll going forward, despite the former Ring of Honor wrestler and booker being spotted at a set of tapings for the company's Strong show on 22 January.
A new report from the Super J-Cast says as much:-
Scurll wrestled for New Japan on a regular basis between 2017 and 2019. He had not been used since signing a multi-year contract with ROH in January 2020, though it was confirmed this January that he had left the position.
Prior to this, Scurll's profile had been removed from the official ROH website, and it was reported that he wasn't present at tapings when the company restarted after going on hiatus at the pandemic's onset.
ROH launched an internal investigation into Scurll following his implication in June 2020's #SpeakingOut movement. Marty faced accusations of sexual assault from a 16-year-old victim, later admitting to the encounter but stating that he believed it was consensual.
The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer previously reported that Scurll worked an angle with Rocky Romero at the aforementioned NJPW Strong tapings. The 32-year-old last wrestled in February 2020.
