No, Jeff Hardy Was NOT Trying To Get Fired From WWE
Shooting down the Jeff Hardy situation's biggest conspiracy theory.
Dumb conspiracy theories are an unfortunate reality of life in 2021, when overly active imaginations will conflate any story into something more elaborate, even in the absence of evidence.
This was sadly the case when Jeff Hardy was released by WWE last year. Let go after working while "impaired" during a 4 December house show, on which he walked out of the arena after tagging out of a six-man main event, the 44-year-old, who has a long history of alcohol-related issues, turned down WWE's request to attend rehab. Unfortunately, the fanbase's more conspiratorial sects theorised that Hardy was deliberately trying to get himself fired through these actions.
This wasn't the case.

It seems silly to address this at all, but according to those close with him I spoke to -- Jeff Hardy wasn't trying to get fired from WWE. He wasn't "working to get out of his deal." The exact phrase I was given was that it was an "absurd take."
Jeff's brother Matt commented on his sibling's situation during a Twitch stream on Monday, stating that he felt WWE may have jumped the gun on letting him go. In addition, he believes that fans will feel better about the situation once the results of Jeff's latest drug tests come out.
Bound to a standard WWE 90-day non-compete clause, Jeff will be free to resume his wrestling career with other promotions in March 2022.
