The gap between AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT in the Wednesday night ratings war was shortened this week, as the black-and-gold brand rebounded from 18 March's calamitous trouncing.

A 23% increase in overall viewership saw NXT move up to 669,000 across its two hours. The All Elite Wrestling show, meanwhile, fell 12% to 819,000 viewers. A total of 1.488 million people watched live professional wrestling on Wednesday evening.

As far as the key 18-49 demographic goes, AEW came through with a 0.34 rating while NXT sat at 0.20. NXT's inability to finish within the top 50 cable shows on the night means more detailed demo information isn't available, though it's worth noting that AEW's strongest group was 18-49 males, with the show notching a 0.45.

News shows covering the ongoing global crisis dominated the night. This is to be expected, though Paul Fontaine's writeup for Figure Four Online notes that Dynamite would have finished second in the 18-49 demographic if these shows were eliminated.

It'll be interesting to see how these numbers trend as the empty arena shows continue, though one would expect an NXT spike, given that matches originally intended for TakeOver are to start airing from next week.
