NXT Gains Ground As AEW Dynamite Sails To Another Ratings Victory
Dynamite just scored its fourth successive ratings triumph.
AEW Dynamite just notched its fourth successive ratings victory in the so-called Wednesday Night Wars, though WWE NXT gained significant ground on All Elite's flagship.
Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite's pre-taped Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager At Sea special came in at an average of 871,000 viewers, which is a 7% fall on the previous week. NXT, on the other hand, increased its viewership by 10%, though their 769,000 average wasn't enough to beat Dynamite.
These numbers mean that AEW has now won 12 head-to-head weeks and NXT three, with a single draw. A total of 1.631 million viewers tuned in across both shows, not including those who watched on DVR, FITE.tv, or through other means.
As far as the key 18-49 demographic goes, AEW came through with a 0.35 rating compared to NXT's 0.24.
There isn't a whole lot to break down here compared to most weeks. History tells us that pre-taped shows usually do a little worse than live television, so perhaps this hurt AEW's numbers, though one would assume that the unique cruiseliner aesthetic would've helped bump their number up. WWE, meanwhile, did a good job of marketing this week's NXT, with Keith Lee's North American Title victory carrying a big fight feel.
