Randy Savage Was Almost Offered To WWE As An EXTRA
Oooooh yeah? How about oooooooh no!
Randy Savage, one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, was once offered to WWE as an added extra if they signed WCW's Gorgeous George.
Bruce Prichard told on his 'Something To Wrestle With' podcast that Randy and George's agent was keen to broker a deal for the latter in 1999. He was so keen, in fact, that the iconic 'Macho Man' was used as a bartering tool for George to get her own contract.
Unsurprisingly, there wasn't much interest in George from the WWF. No, actually being able to wrestle wasn't exactly a prerequisite for women in the late-90s WWF, but Prichard says there was never any interest in her work from the company and stealing her away from WCW wasn't considered a coup either.
The curious thing here is Randy's involvement.
It's sad to think that such a huge name was being used as mere collateral for Gorgeous George 2.0 when he still had so much to offer. Of course, there was also the not-so-small matter of Vince McMahon requesting that WWF officials and creative team members refrained from bringing Savage's name up during meetings, so signing him was a non-starter anyway.
