Real Reason WWE Hasn't TRULY Pushed LA Knight Yet
One of WWE's biggest and brightest is on the verge of pledging their future.
LA Knight appears to be on the brink of signing a long-term contract extension with WWE.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported on Thursday that the two parties have been locked in negotiations, with a deal either nearing completion or completed outright at this stage. Knight's new contract is understood to be a five-year deal.
Fightful Select adds that WWE had made overtures to Knight during SummerSlam (5 August) season, hoping to tie the popular star down. Knight's contract was understood to be "nowhere near" its expiry date at that stage, with Fightful stating a late-2024/early-2025 date for that, though WWE was hoping to tie him down nonetheless.
Interestingly, Fightful notes that "some of the initial offers were countered." More interestingly, the outlet claims that WWE wanted to finalise Knight's new contract before moving forward with his push, despite the former Eli Drake having more than a year left on his existing deal.
Knight has exploded in popularity in 2023, becoming one of the most over wrestlers in American wrestling, with his act catching on hugely amongst WWE audiences. This has led to a clamour for him to be pushed all the way to the top.
