If someone said a year ago that Becky Lynch's last match in WWE could come in a steel cage loss with no fanfare, fans would have thought that person had lost their mind.

But there is a possibility -- no matter how small it might be -- that could be the case, as Lynch reportedly still has not signed a new contract with WWE, and her existing deal is set to expire on Saturday, according to Fightful Select. The outlet noted that as of Monday, The Man had not reached terms on a new contract, but both sides had been in contact.

Lynch lost her Women's World Championship to Liv Morgan Saturday at King and Queen of the Ring, then immediately invoked her rematch clause for Raw Monday night. She lost that steel cage match to Morgan when Dominik Mysterio inadvertently slammed the door on her head after being knocked over by Braun Strowman.

During Raw, Lynch got a bit philosophical while talking backstage to Lyra Valkyria, who has been something of a protégé to her. She noted that Saturday didn't go either woman's way, but the game is not about winning; it's about getting better every time. Becky said that you keep winning or learning, "until it's time to walk away."

After losing the cage match, Lynch posted a somewhat cryptic message on X:

It's pretty obvious Lynch knows fans are closely watching her current status with WWE and isn't above feeding into the doubt about whether she will re-sign with the company where she's worked since 2013. Her husband, Seth Rollins, recently signed a multi-year deal, leading many to believe it's only a matter of time before Becky puts pen to paper.

However, that clock is still ticking. Fightful notes that Lynch is expected by many in the industry to get the biggest offer of any woman in wrestling history. If the seven-time world champion does not sign a new deal before her contract expires on June 1, Lynch would become a free agent, meaning she could appear anywhere immediately, as there is no no-compete clause in that situation.
