All Elite Wrestling Full Gear's World Championship match saw Cody fail in his attempt at wresting the belt from Chris Jericho's clutches, with "best friend" MJF throwing in the towel for 'The American Nightmare,' meaning the Executive Vice President can never challenge for his company's top prize again.

An old-school stipulation saw Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, and Keiji Mutoh sit as ringside judges to decide the winner in the event of the bout hitting its 60-minute time limit. The trio were brought in to ensure a conclusive outcome, though circumstances beyond AEW's control almost brought the contest to an unsatisfying early end.

Per a new report from PWInsider, ringside doctor Michael Sampson nearly stopped the match when Cody suffered a nasty cut above his right eye after taking a hard landing from a dive to the elevated steel ramp.

Sampson evaluated Cody immediately after he hit the deck, ultimately deciding to let the contest continue, with Tony Khan praising him as one of the sport's top medics in his post-show media scrum.

Obviously the health of the wrestlers takes precedent, though it would've been a cruel twist of fate for the bout to have to be called off in such a manner.
