Report: Hiromu Takahashi "Furious" With Recent NJPW Booking Decision
Dick Togo's influence strikes again in NJPW...
NJPW star Hiromu Takahashi was reportedly infuriated by a spot pitched by Dick Togo for yesterday's Best Of The Super Junior XXVIII final pitting the four-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion against YOH, reports Joe Lanza of The Flagship Podcast.
The spot in question saw YOH's former Roppongi 3K partner, SHO, lay both finalists out mid-match, then declare the bout a no-contest. The clash then continued at the referee's discretion, with CHAOS' Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI running the House of Torture member off.
Per Lanza, booker Gedo approved Togo's pitch on show day. "Furious" at the idea, Takahashi approached Gedo to have it pulled, but Gedo refused.
This was actually Goto's second pitch for the BOSJ final. Originally, he had suggested House of Torture (of which he is a member) attacking Hiromu and YOH after the match, then beating up YOH's CHAOS crew when they tried to intervene. This would have been done to further a HoT/CHAOS feud that will continue into 2022, though Gedo ended up turning this first pitch down, wanting Takahashi to stand tall as the BOSJ winner.
The write-up notes that SHO and Shingo Takagi have successfully convinced Gedo to adjust or scrap House of Torture angles like this in the past. Hiromu approaching the booker and effectively going over Togo's head isn't unheard of, nor is it considered insubordinate.
Following his BOSJ win, Takahashi challenges for El Desperado's IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title on Wrestle Kingdom 16's first night (4 January 2022).
