Don't expect THIS match to go down on 11 August.

Dolph Ziggler and The Miz's SummerSlam 2019 clash was made official on WWE television this week, on the back of a number of heated interactions between the old enemies on Raw on SmackDown.

Don't expect it to actually go ahead, though, because Dave Meltzer is reporting that the bout is a "red herring." He claims that while the match is on the card at the moment, something is going to happen to ensure it doesn't go down, though there's currently no word on what, if anything, might replace it.

Meltzer has ruled out the prospect of Ziggler facing Shawn Michaels instead. This week's SmackDown saw Dolph shooting verbal barbs at his former hero after blasting him with a Superkick on the previous show, though it doesn't sound like there are plans to put them together at the moment.

Ziggler has also brought Goldberg's name up a curious amount of times lately, leading to speculation that they may eventually collide as well. SummerSlam might be a tad too early for that, though.

Let's hope for Dave's sake that he's right on this one. Otherwise, last week's report that WWE have no plans for Ziggler at SummerSlam is going to look a tad silly.
