Report: ROH Fire Women's Champion Kelly Klein While Injured?
ROH deny reports that Klein was released while dealing with a concussion.
A messy situation is emerging over at Ring of Honor, where it has been suggested that reigning Women of Honor champion Kelly Klein was released from the promotion while dealing with a concussion.
Former ROH employee Joey Mercury broke the news on Twitter last night. Klein's husband, BJ Whitmer (a former ROH wrestler and current AEW producer), then seemingly confirmed it, stating that company COO Joe Koff informed Kelly via email:-
Ring of Honor has since released the following statement to PWInsider, denying that Klein was fired:-
"We don’t generally discuss personal issues but they seem to have made it public – we didn’t fire [Kelly Klein], we just notified her that we would not be renewing her contract."
Kelly has offered the following update on her condition:-
There's a lot of conflicting information flying around here, though we can say for sure that Klein won't be appearing for ROH after her contract expires on 31 December, and the heat suggests she may not wrestle for them before then either - even if her concussion clears up.
Joey Mercury's input is particularly interesting as his ROH departure show him throw out all kinds of allegations of neglect, misconduct, and other issues. Klein tweeted in support of him on 1 November, though her tone was softer.
A centrepiece of ROH's oft-criticised Women of Honour division since its inception, Klein is (was?) in her third reign as champion.
