Report: WWE Cancelled An NXT Call-Up Set For Last Week's SmackDown
The NXT call-up was supposed to be part of Kevin Owens' ongoing feud with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.
WWE cancelled an NXT call-up that was originally supposed to go down as part of the feud pitting Kevin Owens against Roman Reigns and Jey Uso on SmackDown, reports WresleVotes.
The Twitter account posted the following on Wednesday afternoon:-
The aforementioned main event segment saw Owens brawl with Reigns and Uso halfway up the ThunderDome's video wall, concluding with him being launched onto a pile of plunder below, continuing KO's longstanding trend of taking massive, risky bumps to sell a story.
A similar report from Fightful Select states that Damian Priest was being groomed for a SmackDown call-up earlier this week, though there's no word on whether or not he was the man pegged for the Reigns/Owens role.
Owens has already lost to Reigns twice as part of their feud, failing in Universal Title matches at TLC 2020 and the following week's SmackDown, on which the duo worked a well-received cage match. The former 'Prizefighter' did, however, pick up a win over Uso on last week's show.
It looks likely that Owens and Reigns will wrestle again, potentially at the Royal Rumble. Perhaps we'll see the NXT call-up go down sometime in the next few weeks.
