Last night's edition of AEW Dynamite was "heavily rewritten" according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.

He tweeted the news just seven minutes into the broadcast last night, revealing that Hangman Page's COVID diagnosis was the catalyst for various late changes.

No further specifics were expanded upon by the Observer chief, though one can assume from the reveal of the Hangman Page/CM Punk AEW Championship graphic for Double Or Nothing (and Punk's stirring rallying promo following Dax Harwood Vs Cash Wheeler) that this segment may have played out differently.

Sammy Guevara Vs Scorpio Sky for the TNT Championship, Hikaru Shida Vs Serena Deeb in a Philadelphia Street Fight and The Undisputed Elite Vs Varsity Blondes, Lee Johnson, Brock Anderson and Dante Martin all went ahead as announced and scheduled before showtime. Tony Khan added The Blackpool Combat Club Vs The Factory on Twitter on Wednesday, but the late addition has become fairly common practice even during "normal" weeks.

Regardless, Punk's heated and emphatic sell-job built nicely from their first face-off last week, and hopefully Hangman Page's quick recovery should make for a return to normal for the pair next week.
