Those beginning to wipe the saliva from their mouths at a potential John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio contest come WrestleMania can put the hankies down: it's now looking particularly unlikely (not that it ever looked particularly likely to begin with).

At a Northeast Wrestling show in Waterbury, Connecticut last night, the Mexican legend reportedly tore his left biceps, during a tag-match with Flip Gordon opposite Joey Mercury & Caleb Konley. Once the damage became clear, Mysterio was said to have almost immediately called for the finish, setting up the 619 before pinning Konley following a splash off the top rope.

According to those at the show who intercepted Rey following the bout, there was heavy swelling on the lucha libre legend's arm. At this point, a full diagnosis of the injury is not known.

Comeback time is anything between three weeks to six months dependent on the extent of the tear. A partial tear could see Rey back in action before the month is out, but any necessary surgery would waylay him for at least four months - obviously shelving any potential WrestleMania appearance.
