Ricky Starks Added To AEW Rampage Commentary Team - But NOT Permanently
AEW Rampage will move to a rotating crew of announcers going forward.
AEW Rampage is moving to a rotating crew of commentators, despite Ricky Starks' claims that he has permanently replaced Mark Henry in the announce booth.
Stark said the following during a recent appearance on the WrestleTalk podcast:-
“I am definitely proud of AEW, the work that I’ve done in AEW, and the work that I continue to do. And the fact that I think so much that they appreciate me that they made me a permanent commentator for Rampage, replacing Mark (Henry)."
The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online have now issued a conflicting story, however, noting that Starks won't be part of the team permanently, with the show moving to a rotating cast instead.
A four-man booth of Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Taz, and Henry comprised the original Rampage commentary lineup. The first three were all present on last week's show, with Starks taking Henry's spot.
There is currently no word on how the rotating will work going forward - or why the changes have come into play.
Henry has occupied a dual role on Rampage thus far, combining commentary with backstage interviews, typically drawing promos from the main event competitors ahead of their match. AEW hired the WWE veteran as an analyst, coach, scout, and mentor in June 2021.
