New WWE Hall Of Fame inductee and ex-World Champion Rob Van Dam leapt to Vince McMahon's defence during a series of fiery tweets on his official Twitter page.

Amongst other things, RVD called John Oliver an "a*shole" and defended WWE's right to class wrestlers as independent contractors. That's something Oliver was outspoken about a few years ago, but Van Dam is having none of it.

He said that being able to choose his own healthcare was actually something that gave him "freedom" throughout his pro wrestling career. In addition, Rob said he'd rather be free to pick his own healthcare package than have a promoter pay him less and include one in his contract without any options.

Interesting.

Several fans voiced their disagreement with RVD, but he fired back at them by saying Oliver's comments were "ignorant" rants and a "one-sided story from an outsider". He then pointed out that he'd know first-hand what it was like to deal with independent contractor status.
