Roman Reigns called out former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier during his recent appearance on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show.

Whilst hyping up his upcoming triple threat main event Universal Championship defence at WrestleMania 37, Helwani probed Reigns on whether he preferred to go to war in a one-on-one encounter or under the triple threat stipulation. It was during 'The Tribal Chief's answer that D.C.'s name entered the equation:

“I like one-on-one, to be honest, I’ll smash anybody one-on-one, whether it’s Daniel Bryan, Edge, or D.C., I’ll smash them all one-on-one. Get him from behind the table and back in the gym, maybe, maybe he could have a chance. I don’t know. It would be a short story for D.C.”

Quickly getting wind of Reigns' call-out online, the DC & Helwani co-host soon fired back at 'The Head of the Table', tweeting out a reply:

“Watch your mouth @RomanReignsWWE! I’ll dance with the big dog!”

Highlighting the fact that the former UFC Double Champion had actually tagged an imposter account, Reigns' special counsel Paul Heyman jumped on the former Olympian's comments:

“LMAO! @dc_mma tagged an imposter @WWERomanReigns account, hoping the #UniversalChampion doesn’t see this nonsense. Fight ROMAN REIGNS? #DC would be lucky to be in @WWE as enhancement talent! His biggest moment in @UFC was getting shoved across the Octagon by @BrockLesnar!”

Reigns also stated, “That announce table got him acting soft.”

This all ultimately led to the moment the now-UFC commentator issued an official challenge to Reigns, posting on Twitter:

“My advisor @arielhelwani is waiting by the phone. It’s time to stop talking and let’s make this real! I’m 42 years old with a bad back and I’m whippin’ you any day of the week. Your move @VinceMcMahon @HHH this my yard, I’m the big dog!"

Cormier has long been linked to a run in WWE, with it being said that he was actually offered the chance to appear on WWE Backstage on FOX before the FS1 series was scrapped. Whether or not we actually see the well-known MMA face appear in the squared-circle remains to be seen, but there's no denying that Reigns Vs Cormier could do big business... and perhaps pave the way for that long awaited showdown with Brock Lesnar too...
