Rumor Killer: Latest On Goldberg's WWE Contract Status
Could Goldberg be on his way back to WWE for more in-ring action?
Recent reports of Goldberg's WWE contract status have apparently been greatly exaggerated.
The WWE Hall of Famer has been a steady, if infrequent, presence on WWE programming since his return to wrestling in 2016, but there is no guarantee that we'll see him back in the ring in the coming months.
Rumors circulated last week that Goldberg had signed a new two-year deal that would see him wrestle five matches - mainly at Saudi Arabia or WrestleMania shows - three of which would be against superstars he's never faced.
However, Fightful Select has poured cold water on this rumor, reporting that those close to Goldberg said "that would be news to his reps that negotiate those kinds of deals". The legend's current deal runs through the end of this year, but there aren't any matches left on it. Goldberg could always re-sign with WWE and wrestle again, but that has not happened yet.
Goldberg, who turns 56 later this month, has wrestled a dozen matches since returning after a 12-year hiatus. He most recently competed at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia in February, losing a WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns.
Da Man always felt like one of Vince McMahon's "in case of emergency, break glass" legends, guys he calls in to draw more attention to the company at various times. Whether that philosophy has changed under Triple H remains to be seen, but Goldberg would certainly be a litmus test of sorts.
