Seth Rollins was unsuccessful in his attempt at capturing Kevin Owens' WWE Universal Championship at Clash of Champions 2016, but The Architect's night ended with a display of respect.

As shown in the video below, Rollins received a standing ovation from the Indianapolis crowd moments after Clash had gone off the air. With Owens' music still playing, Seth rose to his feet, stood tall, and took-in the atmosphere as the fans clapped, cheered and chanted his name, before finally taking his leave when his music hit a few moments later.

After limping up the ramp, Rollins turned around to subtly show his appreciation to the crowd, before heading to the backstage area a defeated challenger.

The ovation was a nice touch from a crowd that had stayed quiet for much of the show, though it'll likely do little to soften the blow. Rollins put forth a gutsy performance in Clash's main event, but ultimately fell short through Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon's intervention. With diminished title aspirations, his alliance with Stephanie shattered, and Triple H looming, Rollins' faces an uncertain night on Raw, but at least Clash of Champions ended on a vaguely positive note.
