Shane McMahon Vs. Triple H Being At WrestleMania 33?
A backup plan in the wings...
On Monday, Seth Rollins suffered a leg injury that has put his participation at WrestleMania 33 in serious question. Now, PWInsider is reporting that Triple H versus Shane McMahon is being discussed as a backup plan for the show.
A bout between Rollins and Triple H has seemed set in stone ever since August 29, when "The Game" made an isolated appearance on Raw to turn on his former protege and cost him his shot at the Universal Championship. That led to a Rollins face turn and subsequent demands from the star to meet HHH face to face, but that didn't happen until this past Monday. When they did finally have a showdown, Samoa Joe attacked Rollins at HHH's behest. During the fray, Rollins hurt his knee - the same knee that he injured in 2015, putting him on the shelf for six months.
Initial reports have Rollins missing eight weeks of action, meaning that he might technically be cleared for WrestleMania, but that he won't be around for the buildup. As such, WWE is working on backup plans, and right now, HHH versus brother-in-law Shane McMahon looks like a top contender. Though nothing had been officially decided for McMahon, he was rumored to be facing AJ Styles at the show, so this plan could easily throw the card into further disarray.
