Shawn Michaels Praises Two NXT Stars
"I think they're both more talented than I was."
WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels knows a thing or two about what makes a top wrestler - meaning his recent praise for two NXT superstars will be absolute music to their ears.
The Heartbreak Kid was a guest on WWE Español's El Brunch this week, during which host Quetzalli Bulnes asked him which of NXT's roster most resembled himself in the ring.
Unsurprisingly, Michaels immediately highlighted Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano.
"I think [Cole] has aspects of that, I think Johnny does as well," he told Bulnes. "It's nothing new, but similar qualities. I think both Adam and Johnny have similar qualities in their style, and the way that they work, that I did."
Humbly, Michaels admitted that the pair didn't just measure up against him, but surpassed him: "I think they're both more talented than I was, and more charismatic in some respects as well."
That said, Michaels is an ambassador of the NXT brand and a backstage coach at the Performance Center, so it's within his line of duty to promote its top stars. Still, if most wrestling fans were asked the same question, it's likely they'd produce a similar answer.
