September release could be clue that Sting debut is imminent.

The title of WWE's upcoming Sting DVD will be 'The Best Of Sting.' There's also a new cover image, which depicts crow Sting on a simple white background. The release will come as part of a 3 disc set and will be available on both DVD and Blu Ray in September. Amazon is currently stating the exact release date of September 23rd. What's interesting about that is it follows Night Of Champions by two days. Perhaps the September 21st event will be when Sting finally debuts, creating maximum relevancy and interest around the DVD release. The Best Of Sting promises to be a chronicle of his entire career. It will feature more than two dozen matches in total, many never before released on DVD. Several of the contests are Sting vs Ric Flair, which is testament to the enduring rivalry that both men had. Needless to say, the in-ring quality was good. You'll find several of the matches on this set as four to five star caliber. What might be slightly disappointing is that it appears there'll be no formal documentary. It looks more like the segment style format with short factuals / interviews between matches. That could still be really interesting, but the best WWE DVD's tend to be those that are one whole documentary production. Look no further than the recent Paul Heyman DVD for an example of that. The cover title and artwork is also slightly underwhelming. Not that it really matters, this set should be judged solely on its match quality. If you're serious about pro wrestling, this is going to be a collection you need in your DVD library.
