The AEW World Championship Is Absolutely Massive

Just look at it!

Throughout its illustrious history, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship proudly billed itself as '10lbs of gold' (about 4.5 kilos of the aureate stuff during European defences).

The heavy Heavyweight strap's glittering past was brought back to the fore when it comprised one of the central attractions of last year's All In, as Cody vanquished Nick Aldis to follow in his father's footsteps.

The actual belt itself was quickly forgotten when Cody helped found AEW off the back of All Out's success, but the NWA nostalgia continues to be a theme within his nascent promotion. Case in point: just take a look at the absolutely ginormous new belt Bret Hart unfurled for the company during their debut show, Double or Nothing.

It wasn't so easy to appreciate the magnitude of the gold on that occasion, but a recent photo doing the rounds depicting company CEO Tony Khan and his Executive Producer mates is absolutely dominated by the belt. If the NWA's was 10lbs, this is 20lbs, if it's a pound. Just look at it! What an absolute chonk of a championship.

So yes: big belt. News.
