A frustrating month for The New Day continued on this week's SmackDown, as Kofi Kingston was screwed out of the WrestleMania 35 opportunity he thought he'd won by surviving a lengthy gauntlet match, only for Vince McMahon to throw WWE Champion Daniel Bryan at him without warning.

Now, it looks like the 'Mania hopefuls tag partners are going all in on the angle on social media.

Big E posted the followed video yesterday, in which he speaks on "people like us" never being able to progress within WWE:-

Xavier Woods followed, and while his video was less pointed than E's, he was a lot more overt when it came to teasing leaving the promotion:-

A quick transcript of the above (h/t Cageside Seats):-

“I’m sure you guys saw what happened this past Tuesday to Kofi, you guys probably watched the video that E did, and he kind of said it best, so just kinda each those sentiments. We have other things that we enjoy doing, we have other skills. Me? I love video games, I’m a part of this community and I love this community, with all of my heart. And this community loves me back. That’s a relationship that I’m willing to be in. And considering the fact that I am attempting to create a small video game studio, that is another skill that I have, that is another way to feed myself and my family that I have. So you fully understand that constantly being treated in the way that we, New Day, has been treated - and mostly likely be treated from here on out... I just want to say that I appreciate what you did Vince, thank you very much. Because it’s definitely shown me which direction I need to go in to take care of myself, and take care of my family.”

This is almost certainly a work. It fits the overall Kofi vs. The World storyline perfectly, and there's no way WWE would let a group of proven money-making merch-shifters like The New Day slip through their net. Regardless, that some outlets are reporting it as a shoot shows its effectiveness, so kudos to Woods and E for taking this storyline to the next level, and to WWE for crafting a compelling SmackDown main event narrative.
