The Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak Almost Died A Lot Earlier At The Hands Of THIS WWE Legend
The Streak could have ended before it even got off the ground...
The Undertaker's vaunted WrestleMania Streak was quite literally the stuff of legend, which is why it came as such a devastating shock to so many when it finally came to an end at the hands of Brock Lesnar during 2014's infamous WrestleMania XXX.
However, according to one WWE legend, The Streak could have come to an end a lot earlier - and, by extension, before it was even a thing - if he hadn't jumped to WCW back in the '90s.
Speaking to Corey Graves on the After The Bell podcast, Kevin Nash revealed that if he had decided to stay in WWE in 1996, he never would have dropped the WWE Championship to Bret Hart at Survivor Series '95 had he not been guaranteed a win over 'The Deadman' at WrestleMania.
"Well, if I would’ve stayed, I wouldn’t have dropped the belt to Bret to give to Shawn unless I was guaranteed a win at Mania against Taker."
Fans, of course, will know that Nash - under his Diesel persona - did go on to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XII and, although he gave him his best 'Mania match at that point, he still fell to 'The Phenom'.
The match extended 'Taker's undefeated Streak - which had yet to actually become a thing - to 5-0, but according to Nash, it might never have been a thing.
"I wouldn’t have done it. I would’ve had too many losses in a row. I would’ve needed a big win right there, so there goes ‘The Streak’. I’m just saying. Mark wasn’t a mark. For me to do business, that could’ve been a possibility. I’m not saying it would’ve happened. I’m not saying Vince would’ve booked it that I would have been over... I definitely wouldn’t have coughed it up without something."
While Diesel proved to be a formidable opponent, it's hard to imagine what the WrestleMania landscape would have looked like without The Streak (or the great matches it produced), so let's be thankful things didn't pan out that way.
