AEW Dynamite's Bash at the Beach special on 15 January delivered a controversial angle in which Chris Jericho stabbed Jon Moxley in the eye using a spike from his leather jacket, forcing 'The Purveyor of Violence' into wearing an eyepatch ever since.

It was a tremendous, effective set piece, and provided the night's biggest highlight, but it could have caused problems with Dynamite's network, TNT, had Tony Khan not taken extra steps to ensure their benefactors were okay with it.

Per Dave Meltzer in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the AEW President spoke to TNT before the show to ensure they had their complete approval to run the angle. He called back to a 1988 angle that saw the Road Warriors do the same thing to Dusty Rhodes, which got 'The American Dream' in a lot of trouble with TBS at the time, so this was a wise move.

On top of this, Khan also ensured TNT were fine with MJF wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with "I banged Dallas' daughter" on the night. This was MJF's own idea, apparently, with 'The Salt of the Earth' reported to be a big fan of old-school wrestling territories, having plucked the idea from Greg Valentine's famous "I broke Wahoo's leg" shirt from back in the day.
