Tony Khan Provides Major MJF/AEW Championship Update

Grand Slam main event could only have gone one way after all?

MJF's AEW World Heavyweight Championship match will still need to be sanctioned by Tony Khan, suggesting that a possible "cash-in" akin to a Money In The Bank surprise switch may not be incoming.

This was clarified by Tony Khan during an interview with Barstool Rasslin'. He said (h/t to WrestlingInc);

"Whether they [the fans] love him, hate him, he has got fans all over the world that wants to see MJF wrestle and whether he loves them or hates them it doesn't matter...gonna have a shot at the world title, anytime he wants, I will sanction that match...any time, any sanctioned event...it's a world with live television, pay-per-view events, there's all these opportunities. It's exciting to have a contender out there looming, and to have his big championship match tonight on 'Dynamite."

The sanctioning element ultimately may have fed into the presentation of Grand Slam's main event between Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. Cameras repeatedly cut to MJF and his big poker chip sat in the gods of Arthur Ashe, but the 'Salt Of The Earth' never looked in any sort of rush to hit the ring before or after the final bell.

Khan's comments suggest that - for now at least - there may be a little more formality to if and when the Casino Ladder Match winner picks his spot.
