"Fires shot" might scan as hyperbole, but that's because Triple H knows how to do it.

On the rave-reviewed new American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes documentary on Peacock, Cody revealed "I didn't leave AEW because of money and other talents. I left AEW because of a personal issue. The byproduct of me leaving AEW is to go after the biggest and first dream that I had in my life."

The Chief Content Officer of WWE gave his explanation as to why Cody departed AEW for WWE. "It's taking that gamble again and saying – "I didn’t grow up dreaming of being the champion or the face of a secondary promotion. I wanted to be the WWE champion.""

Insofar as the "secondary promotion" remark goes, Triple H didn't say anything that was inaccurate. Antagonistic, certainly, but not inaccurate. Now, a lot of AEW fans online mocked the comment, suggesting it was driven by Triple H's failure to defeat Dynamite in the Wednesday Night Wars, but what else was he going to say? WWE is in the business of presenting itself as the be-all and end-all, and is without question the biggest sports entertainment company on the planet.

Sly but not incorrect, hey, the man's just stating facts. He knows how to play the game.
