Truth Behind Alexa Bliss' Therapy Sessions
How many of these therapy segments has WWE filmed? Was the Rumble ever a possibility?
WWE gets a rightful raft of criticism for ignoring continuity and not doing any long-term storytelling, but when it comes to Alexa Bliss' journey back to the active roster for Raw, they're apparently all-in on telling a lengthy tale.
Fightful Select reports that WWE has filmed and produced a total of nine segments featuring Bliss undergoing therapy sessions to get to the root of her mystical, spooky persona of the past year. The segments began airing last month, with at least one popping up each week the past four episodes of Raw.
It's unclear whether all the segments will air, or even if they'll air one per week or be doubled up to expedite the storyline, according to the report. This apparently was a long-term plan for Bliss, and she never was factored into plans for last week's Royal Rumble.
The fact that five-time women's champion Alexa, who last was seen battling Charlotte Flair at September's Extreme Rules, was not even considered for a spot in the Rumble due to this story arc must mean they're committed to seeing it through.
The vignettes have been met with a mixed reaction from fans, as some view them as an utter waste of time and unnecessary, meaningless fluff - which the announcers even mocked last week - while others have defended it as consistent storytelling, pointing to how Bliss' attire has slowly returned to "normal."
Most recently, the therapist has been trying to convince Bliss that Lilly the doll is imaginary. Good luck with that.
