Two Surprise Returns In AEW Dynamite Main Event
The best match from AEW's worst feud yields two surprise comebacks.
Kris Statlander and Trent? made their surprising returns to AEW last night as part of the explosive Arcade Anarchy Dynamite main event.
The contest served as the overdue payoff to Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy's doubles feud with Miro and Kip Sabian, bringing their disappointing eight month dispute to a welcome climax in violent and amusing fashion.
In an absolutely tremendous visual gag, Statlander appeared from inside a UFO grabber machine, decking an interfering Penelope Ford in the process. Ford was part of the June 2020 Dynamite clash where Statlander sustained the ACL injury that has since kept her out, but looked fully fit here as she proceeded to drive Ford through an air hockey table in one of the best spots of the match.
The bout concluded with another comeback as Trent? arrived via Sue's van to give the crucial assist to the babyfaces. His spear on Miro through a barricade freed up Taylor to launch Sabian off the stage through another table for the crowd-pleasing (and hopefully conclusive) victory.
The babyfaces embraced and toasted Sue after the fact too, providing an atypically nice way for a wrestling show to go off the air.
