AJ Styles was offered a "blow away offer" from WWE, PWTorch are reporting. Ring Of Honor had wanted to sign the 38 year old to a six figure deal, which would have allowed him to also take New Japan dates. However, WWE topped the offer, in a big turn around from the low ball $60,000 they offered him a few years ago. The signing isn't yet official, but that's thought to be a formality, which will likely take place when Styles arrives backstage for the Rumble event. He's then expected to make his debut as part of the Rumble match. His exact salary isn't known, but back in TNA Impact Wrestling he was making $400,000 a year. A WWE offer around the same figure would make sense. In promos this past week on a UK show, Styles acknowledged the Rumble rumours and teased he would be appearing. It is the worst kept secret in wrestling.Despite the excitement in the internet wrestling community, it is worth bearing in mind that Vince McMahon and the main WWE audience have little to no knowledge of AJ Styles. This is very much a Triple H signing, and it isn't guaranteed to be a successful one. Putting Styles in the Rumble could be a risk, if it is a smart crowd it should be okay, but if it is a family crowd then there may be little reaction. What's going to stop WWE pushing Styles too hard, is the fact he turns forty next year and is already beaten up. It will be interesting to see what exactly the company has in mind for him.
