Coming out of NXT TakeOver 31 this past weekend, it was reported that both Kyle O'Reilly and Finn Balor were injured while contesting their main event, leading to Balor, the NXT Champion, calling for an improvised finish to a bout that won immediate and widespread critical acclaim.

A number of updates have now emerged on the situation, including one from Balor himself:-

A double jaw break? Ouch.

Dr. Jeffrey Westferfield confirmed during last night's NXT broadcast that Balor will be able to talk again once his swelling goes down in a couple of days. He faces an undetermined period of time on the shelf, though no estimate was given.

O'Reilly, meanwhile, confirmed that he hurt his liver while wrestling Balor. "I hate to admit this, but I felt all hope escape my body," he said. "It wasn't going to stop me from fighting back. I think that's what makes a champion: someone who is going to continue despite there being no hope."

Westerfield said that following his injuries, there was "no chance" Kyle was going to make last night's show. Like Balor, there's no word on how long, exactly, he'll be missing for.

It is thought that O'Reilly also suffered broken teeth during the match.
