Duggan, 67, told his Instagram followers that he had been living with the disease for several months. This news came following what his wife, Debra, described as "emergency surgery" for undisclosed reasons on 20 September.

It has now been revealed in a new update posted to Hacksaw's Instagram account that the surgery went as planned:-

In another update posted the following day, it was revealed that Duggan has returned home:-

"When given the choice to stay one more night in the hospital or go home to recuperate, home definitely wins. Jim wants everyone to know he is thankful for the doctors and all of you. Please continue to pray for us. #getyourphysical"

Duggan has experienced a number of health scares over the past few years, including a 2018 atrial fibrillation issue requiring surgery the following March. He also fought kidney cancer in 1998, doing so as a contracted WCW wrestler.
