As reported last week, WWE's Seth Rollins is currently dealing with an undisclosed back injury, and while he continues to do promos and other non-physical work on Monday Night Raw, he won't be allowed to compete again anytime soon.

Dave Meltzer offered a new update in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing that Rollins has been dealing with the issue for some time. Heading into the Royal Rumble, Seth and the company knew he was going to need to take time off to heal up, so his current schedule was 100% pre-planned.

Pre the writeup, 'The Kingslayer' could actually compete now if he wanted to, but the company think it's smarter to let him take the time off, heal up, and be as close to 100% as possible for his big WrestleMania 35 match with Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Rollins' 'Mania card position is important. While Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch is expected to headline, his clash with Lesnar won't be far from the top. It's one of the night's biggest and most significant matches, and WWE don't want to jeopardise it, so expect them to keep their Royal Rumble winner wrapped in cotton wool for the time being.
