Update On WWE NXT's Kyle O'Reilly After False Seizure Rumours Spread On Social Media
O'Reilly was stretched out after Adam Cole's beatdown on NXT, but don't worry about his health...
No, Kyle O'Reilly did not suffer a seizure following last night's episode of WWE NXT.
This was the rumour doing the rounds on social media after the show, prompting WWE on FOX's Ryan Satin to issue the following clarification:-
At no point did WWE state or even insinuate that O'Reilly, a Type 1 Diabetic, had suffered a seizure as a result of Adam Cole's assault on him. KOR was tended to by medical officials and stretchered out of the Capitol Wrestling Center (as seen here), but the seizure rumours were spawned on social media and quickly spiralled out of control.
Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri published an exclusive report after NXT, confirming "there appears to be nothing to worry about with Kyle O'Reilly." The former NXT Title contender is fine.
Per Giri, WWE didn't anticipate people drawing a line between the angle and O'Reilly's diabetes. It was the leaked photos and use of the word "seizure" by social media users led to the confusion.
That people were worried about O'Reilly's condition is understandable. Fortunately, this was just a super-effective work by WWE, and it's unfortunate that the misinformation led to criticism from people assuming the company had scripted a fake seizure for heat.
O'Reilly had been teaming with Finn Balor and Roderick Strong to face Danny Burch, Pete Dunne, and Oney Lorcan in the NXT main event. Cole, who turned on KOR and Balor at TakeOver: Vengeance Day, attacked him with a kick then a suplex onto the steel steps, leaving Kyle laid out.
