Riddle ALMOST wasn't the only one to enter WWE Crown Jewel 2021 on a camel...
Camels were the talk of the internet during WWE Crown Jewel 2021 (21 October), as the creatures stood beside the stage for much of the show, likely terrified from the fireworks intermittently erupting a couple of metres away from their heads.
Their involvement in the show went up a notch when Riddle rode one to the ring for his and Randy Orton's Raw Tag Team Title defence against AJ Styles and Omos. The former UFC fighter emerged on the poor beast's back after Orton had made a more conventional ring entrance, which, according to Riddle himself, was Vince McMahon's doing.
Per the 35-year-old's new interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, McMahon nixed the idea of Orton riding his own camel down the ramp, saying it wouldn't fit his character:-
‘The camel was a good time! I highly recommend, if you haven’t ridden a camel, get yourself a camel, get yourself the opportunity to ride one. Especially if you get the opportunity to ride one in Saudi, embrace the culture there and everything else – and the fans loved it. I’ll be honest – I loved it. You know who wasn’t happy about it though, because they didn’t get to ride a camel either? Randy. Randy wanted to ride a camel and Vince wouldn’t him. He goes, 'Randy, that’s not your character, riding a camel.' He’s like, 'What does that mean man?! My character doesn’t ride a camel?!' I’m like, 'Randy, I’m sorry bro, sometimes you’re just not the dude that rides camels.’"
Orton and Riddle successfully defeated Styles and Omos in Saudi Arabia. They have been Raw Tag Team Champions for 87 days at the time of writing, though recent episodes of Raw have brought signs of discontent in RK-Bro.
