Speaking on Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman's podcast Pro Wrestling 4 Life, Morrissey was asked by Nick Hausman if he was actually under contract with IMPACT, for which he had the following comment (h/t Fightful for the transcription):-

"I wasn't at first, but I am signed with IMPACT until Bound For Glory in October. Things could change tomorrow. We'll see. We're kind of going on a 'feel' basis. They brought me in and I'm not stupid, I understand I'm a high risk because they don't know what they're getting. We've gone taping by taping and they were like, 'We'll sign you up until Bound For Glory' and that was cool with me because I'm not interested in signing anything long-term right now. It worked out perfectly. I'm there until October for right now."

Debuting at IMPACT's Rebellion pay-per-view on 25 April, W. Morrissey replaced the injured Eric Young there. Since then, he has remained undefeated, holding marquee victories over Rich Swann, Willie Mack, and Eddie Edwards.

It's worth noting that IMPACT has been working with a number of talents as of late that aren't under contract. Alex Shelley, prior to sitting out until he's fully vaccinated, hasn't officially inked a deal with the Anthem-helmed promotion.
