If you watched Night 2 of WWE WrestleMania 38, you likely spotted AJ Styles sporting a small but noticeable red gash on his face as he made his entrance.

It was thought initially that stray pyro sparks had smarted his face, causing a burn. As it happens, this was not the case; scrutinise the footage closely, and you'll notice AJ misjudge the height of the WrestleMania stage. He banged his head on it, likely causing the small cut, but as a total professional styled it as if it didn't happen. This was ironic: doesn't WWE frown upon gory self-mutilation?

Of course, this by accident; when WWE actively wants a performer to draw blood, they'll simply have Brock Lesnar concuss them into doing a hardway job.

So yes, the puzzle has been solved. AJ gashed himself with the old albeit inadvertent Bill Goldberg pre-match ritual.

It didn't affect his performance in the match, the quality of which will be analysed by Andy Murray and this author on Ups & Downs from WWE WrestleMania 38 and 9 Match Star Ratings For WWE WrestleMania 38, respectively.
