What Vince McMahon Really Thinks About Matt Riddle
A new update on the simmering discontent between Riddle and Vince.
Matt Riddle's name has barely been out of the headlines lately with reports of a backstage Royal Rumble confrontation with Brock Lesnar spawning all kinds of sub-stories, and it looks set to continue this week, as Dave Meltzer brings a fresh update on the situation in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Per the writeup, the reason McMahon doesn't have much love for Riddle is because of his social media activity. Vince doesn't appreciate 'The Original Bro' challenging legends like Lesnar and Goldberg, reportedly seeing him "as an outside guy" who has "no respect for the hierarchy of the business," which is pretty damning.
On top of this, Meltzer notes that Brock doesn't like Riddle, and Brock has tremendous pull with the WWE Chairman.
Whatever's going on with Riddle at the moment, the apparent discontent hasn't been reflected in his NXT booking patterns. The Broserweights are over as hell and will challenge NXT Tag Team Champions Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish at TakeOver: Portland.
Here's hoping that this doesn't come back to bite Riddle whenever he transitions into Vince's realm, the main roster, though he'd definitely be wise to cool his social media activity down a little.
