Who Does Big Show Credit For Saving His WWE Career?
Only one man gets giant kudos...
Big Show told talkSPORT that he was desperately low on confidence and struggling to make an impact in WWE before Brock Lesnar saved his skin.
Despite being prized away on a huge contract from WCW in 1999 and showing early promise, Show had been relegated to OVW by 2000 and self-doubt started to creep in. Then, in 2002, things changed - Brock Lesnar's scheduled opponent missed his flight for a live event (Show didn't reveal who) and he was put in as a last-minute replacement.
After the match, rising star and apple of Vince McMahon's eye Brock told the boss that he wanted to work with Show more because he was "a big guy who can work". That meant everything to the giant, and gave him a renewed sense of confidence.
Glowing road agent reports from further house show matches made their way back to Vince, and the decision was made to program Show with Brock at Survivor Series. They'd go on to cross paths countless times across both of Lesnar's runs in the company.
Show credits Brock for flying his flag and saving his failing WWE career.
