NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi walked through the Forbidden Door on AEW Dynamite last night and stared down AEW World Champion CM Punk.

Making his first AEW appearance since besting Hangman Adam Page at Double or Nothing and becoming the new AEW World Champion, CM Punk teamed with pals and ROH World Tag Team Champions FTR to take on Max Caster and the Gunn Club in a trios encounter to kick off Dynamite. Sure enough, The Best in the World's squad came out on top in the end, setting the stage for a promo from Punk shortly after.

Admitting that he's striving to be better as their new reigning champ, Punk quickly turned his attention to the upcoming Forbidden Door NJPW crossover PPV and demanded to know who he would be taking on in front of his home crowd of Chicago.

Cue NJPW's Ace rocking up on All Elite shores in person for the first-time-ever and staring down the new champ, seemingly setting up a mouth-watering dream match between the two wrestling legends for the June 26 supershow going down inside of the United Center.

With Forbidden Door now only a few weeks away, expect a great many more New Japan sensations to make their presence known on All Elite programming in the not too distant future.
