Montez Ford has expressed "frustration" at the Street Profits' "stop-and-go" WWE pushes in a revealing new interview with the Daily Mail.

Ford told the British newspaper that while he always takes pleasure in doing his dream job, frustration kicks in when he feels things are either taking too long or aren't happening at all. Specifically, Montez mentioned he and tag partner Angelo Dawkins not being mentioned among WWE's top tag teams - or anything "besides getting handled by the Bloodline."

The 34-year-old told the Mail:

“For me to sit here and go like, how’s it going, that it’s good, that’d be a lie. There’s always pleasure in doing what you love, what you admire, what you have dreamt of, what you have goals in and passion for, but it does get to that sense of frustration where anything you try to accomplish in life, where you may feel like it’s either taking too long, or it’s been too long, or nothing’s happening. I’m not going to lie and say I don’t sit here and watch all the comments and everything. I watch everything. We’re not in conversations when it comes to top tag teams. We’re not in conversations when it comes to anything wrestling-related besides the fact of getting handled by The Bloodline, and that doesn’t sit well with me. So as well as is it is going in terms of being my dream job, it is enjoying as it is frustrating.”

Later in the interview, Ford spoke of he and Dawkins partnering with Bobby Lashley and B-Fab in The Pride. The stable's run effectively ended at WrestleMania 40, where they defeated Karrion Kross' Final Testament group. Since then, Ford feels the Profits' momentum has been "stop and go":

“When all of those things were happening, we were very, very excited, because he (Lashley) was somebody we looked up to, somebody I watched as a kid, and now I’m being paired with him, and he’s being my mentor, and he’s ushering us in this new chapter of The Street Profits. All these things are running, we have a WrestleMania win, and then boom, it just stops. And it’s been this constant stop and go and stop and go and stop and go with the Profits where we’ll get momentum and then the momentum will stop, then momentum will start again, and the momentum will stop. And for us, that’s frustrating, because it’s hard to get behind a team whose momentum starts and then it shifts again.”

Since WrestleMania 40, Lashley has left WWE for rivals AEW. B-Fab remains partnered with Dawkins and Ford on WWE television. Currently, the trio operates on SmackDown.

The Street Profits' 'Stop & Go' WWE Push

WWE

The Street Profits have stayed active on WWE television since WrestleMania 40, working 17 televised bouts since the April pay-per-view, winning seven times. Rarely have they been featured as important players in the tag division, however - and the long-sought-after Montez Ford singles push has not been forthcoming.

Ford and Dawkins have not held gold in close to four years, with their last run as SmackDown Tag Team Champions ending on 8 January 2021. The Street Profits have been in and out of contention since then, last competing for the gold in a Triple Thread ladder match on SmackDown's 4 October episode.

WWE's tag scene has taken a creative hit in 2024 and while many previously underutilized wrestlers have flourished since Paul Levesque became booker in July 2022, the Profits aren't on that list. It's hard to see many taking issue with Ford's words - particularly as Montez, himself, has been argued as somebody worthy of a singles push since breaking out.

This sentiment is hard to disagree with.
