Why Vince McMahon Won't Push Cesaro
Dave Meltzer speaks on the Swiss Superman's lack of elevation.
Cesaro is widely regarded as one of the most talented wrestlers on the WWE roster. His power, athleticism, and showmanship mean he rarely fails to deliver between the ropes, and the Cesaro Section seems to grow in number every week.
Despite this, WWE have never awarded Cesaro a significant main event push, and it looks like that isn't going to change anytime soon. Dave Meltzer was asked why on Twitter yesterday evening, and offered the following response:-
There's nothing new about the suggestion that Vince McMahon isn't a huge Cesaro fan. During his December 2014 appearance on the Stone Cold Podcast, Vince famously stated that Cesaro didn't have the verbal skills to connect, and hadn't reached-out to grab the proverbial "brass ring." This prompted a big fan backlash, but McMahon has stood his ground by not pushing the Swiss Superman.
Meltzer's colleague Bryan Alvarez expounded on the subject on Wrestling Observer Radio last year:-
“The craziest thing about Cesaro is, you know how he’s great in the ring, and he has great wrestling charisma, and he looks great, and he always wears a suit, and somehow Vince McMahon finds the man boring. That’s the whole reason why he’s not getting a push.”
Cesaro has enjoyed a strong run on television alongside Sheamus lately, and the duo ended The New Day's record-breaking WWE Tag Team Championship reign in December. He is still regarded as one of WWE's most under-utilised wrestlers, and Vince's opinion of him seeminly defies the will of the majority of WWE's fanbase.
