William Regal would've been great as a clown.

The UK legend was awesome as a pro wrestler, but fans should be relieved that Regal didn't decide to pursue a different career instead. He told WWE's 'Swerve City' that he almost tried to become a circus clown instead of putting his all into wrestling.

That was one of his three childhood ambitions.

Young Regal fancied becoming either a wrestler, a clown or a comedian. Hilariously, he believes he managed to achieve all of his dreams by focusing solely on the wrestling biz; his bumbling Commissioner role was a gas at the start of the millennium, and the gimmick allowed William to explore his comedic side.

It's probably a good thing that Regal didn't explain this to Vince McMahon back when the company first hired him in 1998 though. There's a decent chance that the then-WWF boss would've rubbed his hands with glee before casting Regal as a modern update on early-90s fave Doink The Clown.

In fairness, Regal probably could've pulled it off. He was always able to switch between serious grappler and slapstick fool with total ease.
