Punk won when Jericho tapped to the Anaconda Vice following on from a magical finishing stretch with saw both men counter pinfalls and submissions in seamless fashion before the proud heel could finally take no more and tapped to the pain of the champions deadly submission. Backstage, before the match began John Laurinatis had informed Punk that he could lose the belt if he got himself disqualified and this played into the story of the bout early on as Jericho tried to get Punk disqualified by taunting him about his family. This made for some great drama which included Jericho trying to encourage Punk to blast him in the head with a chair. Unfortunately the crowd were then deathly quiet during the middle stretch which saw Jericho and Punk mistime a few sequence of moves and rough each up quite badly. There were some phenonemal moments though such as Jericho supplexing Punk to the outside and reversing a top rope hurrancana attempt into a walls of Jericho at which point the crowd suddenly woke up again as Punk crawled towards the ropes. With a better, more heated middle section, this could have been truly amazing, still however, overall, it still provided great action with a superb ending. Very impressive.
